Introduction

The OYA SMS QUEST is a quiz game that can be played by you in the comfort of your home using your mobile phone. It has been described as “HIGHLY addictive”.

Playing the game:

We are formally announcing the registration open. You can register your mobile at 09779297361 via SMS. Registration closes on the 10^th December 2010 at 1500 hours (03:00 PM). After registration, the player will get confirmation of the registration as well as a highly condensed version of the rules. On the 10^th of December, the game shall begin. All registered players will be sent a clue between 7 PM to 8 PM IST and will have approximately 22 hours to answer the clue. If they send the right answer to the game conductor by 6 PM IST next day, they will get the next clue. If they do not send the right answer, or if they don’t answer, or if they don’t answer within the predetermined time, they will be considered out of the game and will not get the next clue. They will not receive any message confirming their “out” status, the very fact that they have not received the next clue means that they are out of the game. The clue will however be posted on the group website later so that their curiosity is satisfied.

This will be done by sending the following detail by text (SMS) message to <09779297361>:

1. Your full name
2. Your present postal address
3. Your ICSE (not ISC!!) batch.
4. Your email address if any.

You will get confirmation of registration AFTER the registration is closed – that is – after 3 PM 10^th December but before the game starts.

Rules and regulations:

1. This is a GAME, NOT a WAR. Please remember that.
2. It is open to all Yadavindrians – not just Old Yadavindrians – in India or elsewhere in the world.
3. All the three registration points are compulsory and should be legible (the prize will most likely be posted to your address).
4. You shall not be eligible for registration if any point is omitted. We have no way of confirming your identity so we shall not endeavor to do so in the beginning. But in case you win the game, we will need some sort of proof of your being a Yadavindrian. The burden of proof shall lie on you so please have the proof ready.
5. Only ONE mobile number per person please. Change of mobile number is not allowed once the game is on so please make sure that your mobile is in working condition.
6. In case you do not own a mobile phone, you can use your parents’ but try to keep this within the family. If it is found out that your friend who is not a Yadavindrian, has been answering the clues on your behalf, you shall not be given the prize.
7. There will be 15 clues in all. The initial clues will be very simple to solve and will be designed to give you a feel of the game.
8. As the game progresses, the clues will get tougher and will no longer be straightforward. You may have to think out of the box to solve some of them.
9. The clues will NOT be restricted to ANY specific subject – please be ready to expect ANYTHING!
10. The clues will be triggered to the eligible players in the evening between 7 PM and 8 PM IST.
11. All players are expected to provide the answer MAXIMUM by 6 PM next evening (the SIM card will be taken out of the phone after that and any message arriving after that time will be discarded). The game conductors need that time to eliminate wrong answers and update the database of players who will get the next clue.
12. If you supply more than one answer, the FIRST answer will be taken into consideration – this is final and non-negotiable. Even if the second answer reaches seconds after the first, it will be discarded. So please think carefully before you answer – you have been given ample time.
13. You are welcome to use any and every source of information to reach the correct answer – unless of course the source of your answer are the game conductors, which brings us to the next rule.
14. Firstly, the phone number from where you receive your clues is un-monitored. This means that the phone will be put on silent mode ALL the time and ALL incoming calls WILL BE IGNORED. So don’t even try to call that number. We will NEVER give you any hint; NEVER give second chances, and NEVER play favorites. To the game conductor, you are only a number that he/she/it does not recognize.
15. Secondly, there may be more than one game conductor – one to supply the clues and another to send them. So be good and try not to call the conductor.
16. Spelling mistakes will not be considered as reason to chuck you out of the game but please try to keep the honour of the English teachers of YPS. Both American (honor) and English (honour) are acceptable unless of course your spelin iz so baad zat eet chenjiz ze anser..
17. There will be a point in the game when a really difficult clue will be given – this is intentional. It does not necessarily mean that you are a duffer if you cannot solve the clue – the fact that you have REACHED the clue should be reason enough to celebrate your genius – so don’t beat yourself up about it.
18. The first person to give the answer to the last question will be declared the winner. It’s not necessary for the game to continue till the 15^th clue. Suppose all but a few people remain in the game by the 11^th clue and only 2 people get the right answer to the 12^th clue, then the first person who got the right answer wins the game.
19. And lastly, the decision of the game conductor(s) will be final and binding. In case there is any doubt, the boss (game conductor) is always right – also, see RULE 1.
