Apple Patents A New Shape For Headphone Jack That Will Anger Everyone

Last year Apple AAPL +0.87% appeared to deliver the death knell to the iPhone jack before going silent, but now it appears to have something far more silly in mind. In its quest to create ever thinner iPhones, iPads and Macs, Apple has obtained a patent to cut the 3.5mm headphone jack and the less common 2.5mm variant down into a slimmer ‘D’ shape. The Patent (No. 9,142,925) was discovered by AppleInsider and sports all the same functionality as the standard 2.5mm and 3.5mm TRRS (tip, ring, ring, sleeve) connector, plus a flexible inner core to reinforce the reduced structural integrity.

Exceptional Leaders Create An Awareness Of Greatness In The Workplace

“Everyone can be great at something; everyone is on a path to becoming great, and leaders facilitate, encourage and empower that greatness,” declares Jim Holm, CEO of the Performance Assessment Network (PAN), a provider of talent measurement solutions that help companies hire, educate and develop people to their fullest potential. Our leadership team at Fishbowl met with Jim to explore how we could bring an awareness of greatness into the rhythm of work. It’s time to turn the tide; we cannot build great organizations if we, as leaders, are champions of pointing out failure.
